Luis Saez (winning rider of Stress Relief)

“The plan was to follow the speed, but something happened at the start; we had a horse take a little bad step inside and it seemed like it grabbed (Stress Relief) from behind, so we just stayed there a little bit, waiting. When we came to the half-mile (pole), I felt like I had a lot of horse and in the stretch she gave me a good move.”

Kinnon LaRose (winning trainer)

“I don’t think (I was worried that she was farther back than planned in the early stages). In horse racing, anything can happen. You always have Plan A, but you’ve got to have Plan B and Plan C, sometimes. (Jockey) Luis (Saez) rode her great. She broke maybe a step slow and it looked like (trainer) Brad (Cox’s) horse (Angel of Kirk) kind of stumbled and it caused a little altercation, but that’s horse racing. Credit to Luis and credit to the filly. She showed a lot of heart today and I’m super proud of her.”

On winning as trainer after working as an assistant to trainer Tom Amoss, who retired from duties as head trainer in March

“It’s awesome (to get a win for owner Dr. Joel Politi). All the credit goes to them. I wouldn’t be standing here without Tom Amoss and without Dr. Joel and owners who had Tom beforehand and stayed with me. It just shows how many loyal clients he had and I’m just very grateful to be in this position and hopefully can keep it going.”

Alex Achard (rider of runner-up and 21-1 longshot Glory Run)

“Big run. Broke sharp, and she had a clean trip. She settled very good. Turning for home, I felt like I still had a lot under me. She tried really hard.”

John Ennis (trainer of Glory Run)

“I’m delighted. I’m delighted to bring her back to 6 furlongs.”

Tyler Gaffalione (rider of fourth-place finisher Angel of Kirk)

“She was standing perfectly (in the gate). Just kind of went up instead of forward. Not really sure what happened, but it definitely cost us today.”
