Flavien Prat (winning rider of Movie Night)
“I just tried to keep her relaxed. She gets in gear very easily. She settled very nicely—almost too nicely, so that got me a bit worried. But she was an old pro today.”
Will Walden (winning trainer)
On the difference in today’s win and Movie Night’s close third in the Dogwood (G3) in her last race, Sept. 19 at Churchill Downs:
“Night racing can be a little different, and the three fillies that came down to the wire in the last race (the Dogwood) were three really solid fillies. None of them deserved to lose. (In today’s race they) spread out. She broke sharp. When you keep her in the middle of the track she tends to shut off and relax, which is what (jockey Flavien Prat) alluded to there. I think that’s what happened, but she was full of run when called upon.”
Preston Troutt (whose father, Kenny Troutt, owns WinStar Farm, which bred and races Movie Night)
“It was incredible. We knew she had talent; she ran a really good third in the Dogwood (G3 at Churchill Downs Sept. 19). When they went :45 and four turning for home (in today’s race), she was full of horse and just ran off with it. Unbelievable. I’m incredibly thankful to be part of the whole WinStar team. I’m excited for (trainer) Will (Walden). He’s done a great job with the horse. She ran huge today. Just thankful my parents (Kenny Troutt and his wife, Lisa) are watching. Thankful for the whole fam and for the entire WinStar team.”
Emisael Jaramillo (rider of runner-up Mythical)
“I love this filly. She’s a good ride.”
Luis Saez (rider of third-place finisher Army’s Marauder)
“A good trip. Not the spot we wanted to be in, but we got no choice. We broke from the one hole so we stayed there. A big effort.”
Brendan Walsh (trainer of fifth-place finisher and beaten favorite Mashallah)
“(She stumbled at the start.) So she was last leaving the gate and we had no chance from there. She still ran a gallant race considering that.”
