West Point Thoroughbreds, David Ingordo and CJ Stables’ Reagan’s Wit blasted by longtime leader Pineland passing the sixteenth pole en route to a 1 1/4-length victory in the $130,000 Cove Springs Purse for 4-year-olds and up Thursday afternoon at Keeneland. (Click here for a replay of the race.)
Trained by Cherie DeVaux and ridden by Jose Ortiz, Reagan’s Wit completed the mile on a firm turf course in 1:34.98.
A Keeneland sales graduate, Reagan’s Wit is a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Authentic out of the Sunday Break (JPN) mare Dayienu. Reagan’s Wit improved his record to 8-3-2-0 and increased his earnings to $235,446.
Reagan’s Wit returned $14.32, $8.90 and $5.84. Pineland, ridden by Julien Leparoux, returned $20.92 and $9.48 and finished a half-length ahead of Ejtimaa, who paid $12.58 to show under Sonny Leon.
