5th race [Md 100000, 1 mi TURF] – (1) Vintage Vino will drop in for a tag for the first time for Linda Rice after being competitive in all of his starts. (7) The Nominees Are missed by a neck in his debut in March on the grass at Tampa Downs for Chad Brown. (6) Suspiciously Named stretched to two turns for the first time and was able to set the pace and finished second after some bumping late in the race. (4) Bermuda Triangle changes barns, drops into a claimer for the first time, blinkers come off, and he shows up as a new gelding.
6th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (1) Valentine Crusader (A) dueled for the final quarter-mile in his debut and lost by a nose at 9-5. (2) Sunday Boy was second in his debut last month at Saratoga. (4) Pride of the Union was touted by his trainer as one to watch this summer with some fast workouts showing. (5) Diamond Life will debut for a trainer that already had two first-time starters that were winners. (6) Mission Critical is a home-bred making his first-start for a smart ownership group and a top trainer with young horses.
8th race [Clm 35000 N2L, 1 mi TURF] – (5) Will Not Be Swayed (A) rallied from last into the stretch where she had to check in traffic and lost all chance to win but finished fourth. (7) Starlight Dancer moved from a victory in a $50,000 maiden claimer to run second in a spot with similar conditions to today. (8) Quite Continental won for a $40,000 tag in October and was claimed back by Linda Rice. (10) Boxed Wine will drop to the N2L condition for only the second time in her third start of the year.
10th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 mi] – (8) Solo Jim (A) lost all chance at the break when he got bumped hard and had to steady but still finished second. (9) Kaz Oil Changer was second in both of his starts. Last time at Saratoga it was behind a horse that came back to win an allowance. (2) Dormello has an impressive work tab for Bill Mott heading into his first start. (4) Undisputed ran his best race in May when he was second and it was going a mile at Aqueduct.
Best bets: Valentine Crusader (6th); Will Not Be Swayed (8th). Best value: Vintage Vino (5th); Solo Jim (10th).
