1st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 1/8 mi TURF] – (2) Coach of the Year crossed the finish line first last time at 21-1 but was disqualified and placed fourth. (1) Lyn’s Legacy finished third in her debut in that aforementioned race and was moved up to second. (4) Paula’s Choice is a home-bred who ships up from Kentucky to race against NY-breds for her first race. (8) Silly Season gets blinkers on for her second start of the year.
3rd race [OC 20K/SAL 16k, 6F] – (2) Norwich (B) stumbled at the start, went to the lead, got caught, finished a half-length behind, and got claimed for $12,500. (5) Shoot the Nickel (B) was very wide the whole race, went from last to the lead, and was second. Finished in the top three in 6 out of his last 7 races. (8) Kunshan Bridge won his last two races and posted his best recent speed figure showing in his PPs. (7) Willie Bird won 4 out of his last 4 races at Midwest tracks and has never run worse than third for top trainer Larry Rivelli.
6th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 7F] – (3) Music in Motion moved from turf to dirt last month got to the lead for the first time and got caught nearing the wire. (8) Modest Maclean posted a fast workout in preparation for this first start and gets Irad Ortiz. (1) Bossofeverything will make his third start and has speed figures that make him a contender in here. (4) My Togo has been training at Monmouth Park for his debut and gets Flavien Prat.
8th race [Glens Falls (G2), 1 ½ mi TURF] – (8) Speed Shopper won the Bewitched (G3) at Churchill in April, then tried the very tough field in the New York (G1) in June, and gets a rider change to Irad. (6) Survie will make her first start in America showing top three finishes in Group 1, 2, and 3 races internationally. (9) Gezora won the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf last year and will make her first start for Bill Mott. (5) Storm Miami has early speed which may serve her well in this field.
Best bets: Coach of the Year (1st); Norwich (3rd). Best value: Music in Motion (6th); Speed Shopper (8th).
