st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (8) Encantar (A) raced from last to second in her debut at Saratoga a month ago for a trainer that rarely wins with first-time starters. (7) San Antonio Sara made her first start at Gulfstream Park last month where she pressed the pace to finish third. She came north to prepare for her first start against state-breds. (9) Factory Setting will be debut for Klaravich Stables and Chad Brown. (2) Amicus Curiae will make her first start as a daughter of Tiz the Law who has become an important sire of NY-breds.

nd race [Md Sp Wt, 5½ F TURF] – (4) Big Imagination will debut for Repole Stable and Todd Pletcher with an all-Japanese pedigree which should point to a turf runner. (1) Siouxse will make her first start for Graham Motion who has excellent stats with firsters and this one has siblings that won on the grass. (9) Vajra showed early speed in both of her races in fields that produced return winners. (8) Mousseline will debut for Bill Mott who when he wins at first asking it often happens on the grass. She, too, has siblings that preferred grass racing.

th race [OC50k/SAL50k, 6 ½ F] – (6) Bye Bye Miles won for $50,000 at Churchill Downs in June and was claimed by Mike Maker who specializes in taking high priced claimers. (7) Bear Claw Necklace was third in a similar spot two weeks ago that came after a fourth in the Sir Barton at Pimlico. (2) Uncle Jim was claimed three times this year when he won twice and was second. (1) Bob’s Carrot broke his maiden for a $50,000 tag at Churchill with a front-end effort.

th race [With Anticipation (G3), 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (3) Capital Partner was a debut winner at Saratoga earlier this month as the 9-5 favorite going long and was rank early in the race. (4) Caroline St. Beat was another first out winner. He stalked two weeks ago to win by more than two lengths as the 2-1 favorite. (7) Gloves Off ships up after a debut victory at Ellis Park. (5) Dr. Agne, who is a son of the turf star Lady Eli, won his first start in a race that was meant for the turf with a rally from 10 lengths behind to win by a length.

Best bets: Bye Bye Miles (5th); Capital Partner (7th). Best value: Encantar (1st); Big Imagaination (2nd).
