1st race [Clm 17500 N3L, 1 1/8 mi] – (1) Golden Purchase pressed the pace, got the lead, finished second, and was claimed from a similar spot. (3) B D Saints will drop into a N3L claimer for the first time as a horse that is a NY-bred allowance winner. (4) Solo Empire was a front-end winner a few races back of the N2L condition and was claimed that day for $16,000. Since then, he has raced three times in much tougher spots. (2) Because the Night finished in third behind the top choice last time out.
3rd race [NY, Alw 95000 N1X, 1/8 mi] – (6) Incantation (B) came back after a layoff, rallied to get the lead, and then just missed the win while well clear of the rest of the field. (5) Aelfgar won his last two starts at Finger Lakes in the N2L and N3L allowance races. (4) Pineapple Man won a N2L claimer two races back, then was fourth in a starter allowance, and returns to NY-bred competition for the first time since February. (1) Eric from Miami won a $17,500 N3L claimer last month and was taken.
5th race [Clm 100000, 7F] – (4) Low Key won a maiden special weight at Fair Grounds and then tried the Virginia Derby in March on the Kentucky Derby trail. He has been off since then but shows five workouts. (2) Madeline’s Promise has plenty of early speed which he showed winning a $50,000 maiden claimer and then in a series of starter allowances. (1) Always Practical won a $30,000 open claimer at Keeneland and was taken and then was claimed again two races later for $50,000 at Churchill by Linda Rice. (5) Lady Orient was a debut winner in a turf sprint at Ellis Park last summer, tried a couple of stakes, and was third at Churchill last month in a high-priced OC allowance.
7th race [Coronation Cup (G3), 5 ½ F TURF] – (3) Cloe was a debut maiden winner who has since run in four stakes races. In the last three she had a win, a second, and a third in a Grade 3 at Santa Anita. (1) Make Haste began her career in the UK, moved to the Clement barn for 2025, was fourth in a Gulfstream Park stakes, and won an allowance in April. (7) Gata Brazil won the Stormy Blues stakes at Laurel Park last month and shows a very fast, recent turf workout at Saratoga. (5) Spirited Boss moved from two wins in Florida-bred races to hit the board three times in open company stakes including last month at Saratoga.
Best bets: Golden Purchase (1st); Low Key (5th). Best value: Incantation (3rd); Cloe (7th).
