1st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6 ½ F] – (2) Our Preferred Pal (B) set the pace, finished second going a mile during the Saratoga June meeting and the NYHL race notes said that she needs to cut back in distance. (1) Miss Im Pulsive set the pace in her debut in May at Aqueduct, finished second on that day, and then tried a turf sprint to no avail. (3) Sunshine Lily was second in her third start which was in April and then also digressed when she moved to the turf for the first time. (4) Accelerated News changes barns after four starts that includes a second at Gulfstream Park on the synthetic track.
7th race [Md Sp Wt, 1 mi TURF] – (4) Maiora (A) was unruly before the race but still finished second in her debut at 3-1 behind a filly from the Pletcher/Repole team. (7) Pan Pan (D) was bet down from 9-1 to 6-1 in her debut three weeks ago, raced seven wide, and finished fourth. (8) Ms Daredevil made her first start at Churchill Downs last month in a turf sprint where she rallied strongly to finish second. (2) Flighttown and (2B) Time to Dream make a Pletcher/Repole entry of first-time starters and either of them could win this race.
8th race [Md 35000, 6 ½ F] – (6) Darty Time made her first start in a restricted maiden special weight at Churchill last month, showed some speed, and faded to seventh at 3-1. (7) Circuit Court was third in a $20,000 maiden claimer at Aqueduct in May. (1) Kate Barry is a debut runner that drew Irad Ortiz Jr. and has an extensive workout pattern going back to April. (4) Cara’s Chianti will drop into a maiden claimer for the first time.
10th race [NY, Md 50000, 1 1/8 mi TURF] – (3) Catholic Edition (A) was third in her first start at 6-1 and made a big run for third going seven wide. (9) Practical Romance will drop in for a tag for the first time for a trainer that has a 30% win rate with that move. (4) Professor Grace moved from dirt to turf last time, stretched out in distance, was rank early, and moves back into a claimer. (5) Addagirl Addie was second at this level in her second race following a seven-month layoff.
Best bets: Darty Time (8th); Catholic Edition (10th). Best value: Our Preferred Gal (1st); Maiora (7th).
