Style Points Scores in Thursday’s Featured Lantern Hill Purse with One Day Remaining in Keeneland Spring Meet

Cheyenne Stables’ 2-1 favorite Style Points proved best in a four-horse photo finish to win the $110,000 Lantern Hill Purse by a nose on Thursday, the penultimate day of the Keeneland Spring Meet. (Click here for a replay of the race.)

Ridden by Joel Rosario, Style Points won the 1 3/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies on a turf course labeled firm. Her time was 1:55.30. The victory gave trainer Christophe Clement his second win of the afternoon.

Style Points, who was bred in Kentucky by Candy Meadows, is a 3-year-old filly by Oscar Performance out of Mystical Star, by Ghostzapper. Today’s win was worth $64,790, which increased her career earnings to $165,105 with a record of 5-2-2-0.

Style Points paid $6.66, $3.46 and $2.44. Royal Wintour, ridden by Jorge Ruiz, returned $5.38 and $3.64. Finishing a neck behind in third was Hello Hollywood, who paid $3.70 under Jose Ortiz.

Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. rode two winners Thursday to record his 16th and 17th victories of the Spring Meet and move into the top spot on the list of leading jockeys for the season. Ortiz is two wins ahead of Tyler Gaffalione and three wins ahead of his brother, Jose Ortiz.

Friday is closing day of the Spring Meet. The 10-race card begins at 12:30 p.m. ET and features the 62nd running of the $300,000 Bewitch (G3) Presented by Keeneland Sales. The Bewitch is the eighth race with a 4:07 p.m. post time.

Keeneland will offer a Super High 5 carryover of $27,787.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Keeneland will begin the April Horses of Racing Age Sale in the Sales Pavilion.
