In his first workout since finishing third in the $1.25 million Toyota Blue Grass (G1) on April 4, Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, Pine Racing Stables, Legendary Thoroughbreds, Belmar Racing and Breeding and R.A. Hill Stable’s Talkin went a half-mile in company on Keeneland’s fast track Friday morning. Time for the move was :50.
Talkin, who is targeting the Preakness (G1) on May 16, will remain at Keeneland until shipping to Laurel Park for the race. He is trained by Danny Gargan, who won the 2024 Belmont (G1) with Dornoch, the fourth-place finisher in that year’s Toyota Blue Grass. Both Talkin and Dornoch are sons of 2018 Toyota Blue Grass winner Good Magic.
After finishing unplaced in the Remsen (G2) at Aqueduct on Dec. 6, Talkin went to the sidelines. He returned to action with a fifth-place finish in the ESMARK Tampa Bay Derby (G3) on March 7 prior to his third in the Toyota Blue Grass.
