Pin Oak Valley View Winner Lady Prancealot (IRE) Heading Back to California

October 19, 2019

Jules Iavarone, Michael Iavarone and Jerry McClanahan’s Lady Prancealot (IRE) came out of her victory over favored Blowout(GB) in Friday’s Pin Oak Valley View (G3) by three-quarters of a length in good order, according to trainer Richard Baltas.

“She came back good and now we’ll go home and regroup,” Baltas said. “We may look at the American Oaks (G1). That would be a nice race to try to win.”

The American Oaks, run at 1¼ miles, is scheduled at Santa Anita in late December.

Friday’s victory was the second Grade 3 win for Lady Prancealot, who has finished in the top three in three other graded tests.

“Yesterday was more like a Grade 2 than a Grade 3,” Baltas said. “She’s pretty honest and shows up every time except for Belmont (when she was sixth in the $750,000 Jockey Club Oaks Invitational) when there was no pace.”

Whit Beckman, assistant to Chad Brown, said Peter Brant’s Blowout as well as Brown’s other runners, Catch a Bid (fourth) and Turf War (12th), came out of the race fine.

The day was not a total bust for the barn as Klaravich Stables’ The Path Not Taken (GB) rallied for a 1¼-length victory in her debut effort in Friday’s second race going 1 1/16 miles on the turf.

“She was very impressive,” Beckman said of the filly, who delivered the barn’s meet-leading seventh win. “We’ll continue down the road with her and go to Florida.”
