Javier Castellano (winning rider of Tobys Heart)

“I handicapped the race with (trainer Brian) Lynch. He told me in the Paddock: ‘There’s a lot of speed in the race. Let her fall out of the gate. Be patient turning for home and let her use one kick.’ She broke well out of the gate. She put me in a really good spot early. I traveled comfortable. I really like the way she did it. I rode her with a lot of patience, a lot of confidence. I rode the best horse in the race. I give all the credit to Mr. Lynch the way he trained the horse. I just enjoyed the ride.”

Brian Lynch (winning trainer)

“She shortened back up to what she wants to do (sprint). Am I surprised she won? Not really. Am I grateful? Very much. We got Gary (Barber) involved (as a co-owner) with this filly, which is great because I think she’s got a big future. We got her back doing what she likes to do and hopefully the rest of the year is a good one for her.”

On her next race

“There are options out there. We’ll just have to put our heads together and map out a program. I think she’s got a big future.”

Florent Geroux (rider of runner-up Goin’ Good)

“I wish I would have saved more ground but with the post position (5 of 8), I could not do any better. She ran a great race but the winner ran us down.”

Brad Cox (trainer of Goin’ Good)

“She ran well – a little wide but considering the post there is not a whole lot we could do about that. I am very proud of her; she has never run a bad race. For her next start, we will look at the filly turf sprint stakes at Churchill Downs ($100,000 Mamzelle at 5 furlongs on May 8). That would be the next logical spot.”
