Trained by Steve Asmussen, Silver State covered the Beard Course of 7 furlongs, 184 feet in 1:26.12 over a fast track. The colt was one of three winners during the afternoon for jockey Ricardo Santana Jr.

Silver State, who was making his first start in seven months since finishing seventh in the Louisiana Derby (G2), improved his record to 6-2-2-1 and increased his bankroll to $188,706 with Thursday’s $42,600 check.

A Keeneland sales graduate, Silver State is a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Hard Spun out of the Empire Maker mare Supreme.

Silver State paid $7.20, $4.40 and $3.20. Trident Hit, ridden by Corey Lanerie, rallied for second and returned $9 and $5.60 with Uber Kirk finishing third under Brian Hernandez Jr. and paying $5.20 to show.
