Kim Nelson

Kim Nelson has worked with horses all her life. She rode hunter jumpers as a child and teenager. She then moved on to work for North Ridge Farm learning the basics with mares, foals and yearlings. She has worked through the years for Carl Nafzger, Adena Springs, The Daily Racing Form and Marylou Whitney Stables. Keeneland has always been the home track for Kim and this will be her 14 year anniversary handicapping the spring and fall meets.

He comes over as the 7-5 early favorite. #1 Badge of War is proven at this distance and recent form is good enough to suggest he can compete with these. #6 Goldeneye is getting some much needed class relief and could find his better stride here. 

2nd Race

Top Picks #1, #9 and #5

#1 Bartender looks to be dropping in for the win. Her early foot gets her in good position for this route of ground. Top connections bring her over as the early 9-5 favorite. #9 Don't Be Salty is lightly raced and looks to be one that has potential to improve at this level. #5 Country Club has been in good form her last 2 races and she could bring a strong effort. 

3rd Race

Top Picks #7, #6 and #5

#7 Red Raze is making a significant drop in class for her 3rd career start. She looks capable of stepping up for the win. #6 Shinning Silver has a bit of early foot but hasn't been able to finish in her first 3 starts. She finds softer company here and expect her to improve. #5 Gus's Gal finished a good 2nd in her last and she looks like a player.

4th Race

Top Picks #1, #4 and #9

#1 Noble Anthem was an expensive yearling purchase making his 2nd career start. Even effort in his debut but look for him to find his stride here. #4 Commerce is a firster for the Mott barn. He has a solid work tab and like him for part. #9 Up Country is 3rd off the layoff and the early 6-5 favorite.

5th Race

Top Picks #4, #7 and #5

#4 Mouquer is the long shot pick here but like this distance for him off his debut. #7 Final Story just missed in his debut and posted a big Beyer number. He is the early 4-5 favorite. #5 Owie shortens up for this one and he could boost exotics. 

6th Race

Top Picks #10, #3 and #6

#10 Noble Dynasty finished a respectable 6th in the Grade 3 Transylvania here on opening day. A trip over the Keeneland grass and the softer company should land him a win picture. #3 Knoty Knicks exits stakes company and recent Beyers suggest he could be very competitive here. #6 Gairloch adds blinkers for his 3rd career start. He comes over with top connections and like him to land a share of this.

7th Race

Top Picks #2, #6 and #4

#2 Nation has a previous win over the Keeneland main course at this distance. Also note the recent works over the local going that suggest he is ready for a win. #6 Elnajd has only 2 starts and can boast a win and a 2nd place finish. Beyers are strong for this field and he comes over as the 8-5 early favorite. #4 Tre Italiani has an early turn of foot and he consistently stays on to pick up a check. 

8th Race

Top Picks #11, #4 and #10

#11 Intricate Spirit is a Graded Stakes winner making his 2nd start off the layoff. He finished a good 3rd in his last outing and the return to the grass here should put him in the winner's circle. #4 Schwarzenegger is first off the winter break. He won the Indian Summer stakes here last fall at this distance and he could prove tough to catch here. #10 Throckmorton just missed in his last and poses a threat with these. 

9th Race

Top Picks #11, #3 and #6

#11 Asheville is a firster for the Brad Cox barn. He looks well prepared and like this distance for his debut. #3 Quarry is first off the layoff but recent work suggest he is ready to go. #6 Tilt a Twirl another firster that has been working well leading up to his debut.
