Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1)

In the world of Thoroughbred racing, few names carry the weight and legacy of Claiborne Farm. Established in 1910 in Paris, Kentucky, Claiborne has long been a cornerstone of American breeding and racing, home to legendary stallions like Secretariat, Bold Ruler and War Front. Claiborne became the title sponsor of the Breeders’ Futurity in 2014, aligning its name with one of racing’s most historic juvenile races.
The Breeders’ Futurity was first run in 1910 at the Kentucky Association track in Lexington and was held annually through 1930. After brief stints at Latonia (now Turfway Park) from 1931–1933, the race was revived at Keeneland in 1938 and has remained a fall fixture. From 1943 to 1945, it was temporarily hosted at Churchill Downs during wartime. Today, the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) remains a premier 2-year-old contest.
