Toyota Blue Grass (G1)

Founded in 1937, Toyota has grown into one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, recognized for innovation, quality and a commitment to mobility for all. With a major manufacturing presence in Georgetown, Kentucky, Toyota has deep ties to the Commonwealth, where it has been building vehicles and supporting local communities since 1986. In 1996, Toyota became the proud sponsor of the Blue Grass, underscoring its connection to Kentucky’s signature traditions and to Thoroughbred racing at Keeneland.
Named for Kentucky’s famed Bluegrass region, the Blue Grass was first run at the Kentucky Association track in 1911. From its inception, it has stood as a proving ground for 3-year-olds on the road to the Kentucky Derby. After the closure of the Association track, the Blue Grass was revived at Keeneland in 1937. With its purse elevated to $1.25 million in recent years, the Toyota Blue Grass (G1) remains an important prep race for the Kentucky Derby and the marquee race of the Spring Meet, drawing top contenders from across the country.
