The Valley View Stakes is named for Kentucky’s oldest recorded commercial business, the Valley View Ferry. In operation since 1785, the ferry crosses the Kentucky River to connect Fayette and Madison counties. The Valley View was inaugurated in 1991 and was run as a late-closing event through 1993. Bank of America became the sponsor of the Valley View in 2023. The race was upgraded from Grade 3 to Grade 2 in 2024.

In 2024 Poolside with Slim (IRE) captured the Valley View (G2) for trainer Rusty Arnold, jockey Frankie Dettori, and owners Glenn S. Bromagen II, Patrick Lewis, and Sandra Bromagen.
