$650,000 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1)

Saturday, October 4

The Breeders’ Futurity was inaugurated at the Kentucky Association track in Lexington in 1910 and was renewed every year thereafter through 1930. In 1931-1933, the race was shifted to Latonia in Northern Kentucky. The Futurity was revived at Keeneland in the fall of 1938. From 1943-1945, the Futurity was renewed as a part of the Churchill Downs fall meetings. Claiborne Farm of Paris, Ky., became the sponsor in 2014. The $650,000 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1) is for 2-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles on the main track. The winner receives a spot in the starting gate for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
