LNJ Foxwoods and NK Racing’s Ontario passed longtime leader Classic Appeal at the top of the stretch en route to a 1¾-length victory over Etawa (IRE) in the $120,000 Oak Hill Purse. The turf allowance was the featured race at Keeneland on Thursday, the second-to-last day of the Spring Meet. (Click here for a replay of the race.)
Ridden by meet leader Irad Ortiz Jr. and trained by Joe Sharp, Ontario won the 1½-mile race on firm turf in 2:33.42.
Ontario, a Keeneland sales graduate, is a 5-year-old mare by Ghostzapper out of Mexican Hat, by Street Cry (IRE). Today’s performance was worth $46,733 and increased her lifetime earnings to $128,363 with two wins in 10 starts.
Ontario paid $10.04, $4.58 and $2.86. Etawa, ridden by Jose Ortiz, returned $3.28 and $2.48. Finishing 2¾ lengths behind in third was Tricky Kitty, who paid $2.30 under Flavien Prat.
