The Sycamore is named in honor of the tall, stately tree that stands at the entrance to Keeneland’s walking ring. The race has been contested at 1 1/2 miles (2001- 2010, 2012, 2014-present) and 1 5/8 miles (1995-2000, 2011, 2013). The race was upgraded from a Grade 3 to a Grade 2 event in 2025.
