#5 Beyond Belief – at odds 2 to 1 or higher
#6 Evanescence – at odds 2 to 1 or higher

Beyond Belief gets class relief in this allowance race after two graded stakes. She won two straight allowance races in November and December, and her last, on December 28, was by nine lengths. In both races, she started second, took the lead at the half-mile, and then widened in the stretch. She has put in two excellent workouts recently, and she gets jockey Luis Saez, who will make sure she takes the lead. In this field, there is no early speed except for her, and she could rebound and win.

Evanescence won her only try at Keeneland, one year ago, at six and one-half furlongs. That race was the only time she was ridden by Jose Ortiz, and he rides her back today, whereas he did not ride her in her last race. In her three wins, she has rallied from fifth to seventh, and she has the best closing speed, so if Beyond Belief can’t win in front, this is the horse to beat her.
