Equine Safety Responses | April 20, 2022

Horse Name: Invader

Race: 7 (turf)

Age: 5

Trainer: Wesley Ward

Details: Invader was pulled up by jockey John Velazquez after finishing the race after appearing off in the left front. He was transported back to the barn and walked to his stall. Preliminary radiographs indicate an apical sesamoid fracture of lateral sesamoid in left front fetlock. Prognosis appears good.

Race: 1 (Dirt)

Age: 3

Trainer: Edward H. Frederick

Attending Veterinarian: Unknown

Injury Details: Clipped heels with another horse in traffic and fell. Horse walked off the track under his own power. Continues to remain stable and doing well at the barn following the race. Jockey Thiago Canuto is unhurt and cleared to ride.
